Study: British Immigration Has No Economic Benefits

"Preposterous" To Claim Otherwise

A British parlimentary committee of experts came to the conclusion that many British subjects had already reached: there is no justification for mass immigration into the U.K.

And, there's no benefits gained by the country from it.

The panel of experts' report, called a "landmark study--the most authoritative carried out by a parliamentary committee", demanded that a cap be instituted on new arrivals into the British Isles.

The report is sure to spread dismay among Euro-elites and multiculturalists worldwide. Among its blunt findings:
•Dismiss Ministers' "preposterous" assertion that migrants boost the economy by £6billion a year;

•Reject Government claims that foreigners will help to defuse the pensions timebomb;

•Demolish the "fundamentally flawed" Downing Street argument that migrants fill vacancies in the economy;

•And warn that migrants will force up house prices by 10 per cent in the next two decades.

The House of Lords committee didn't mince words.
The Lords economic affairs committee, which includes former Chancellors Nigel Lawson and Norman Lamont, economists and captains of industry, said immigration had "little or no positive impact" on the living standards of the existing population.

In fact, the big winners were the migrants themselves who earn higher wages than in their homeland and can also send money home.

Some British workers were even seeing their incomes fall, while up to 100,000 youngsters have been unable to find work.

And, by pushing up house prices, migrants will keep young families off the housing ladder, the committee found.

Britain has seen migration balloon its population by 190,00 per year and the Labour Party, like the Democrat Party and RINOs in the U.S., has been stressing the economic benefits of mass migration.

Euro-weenies like to cite the need to import workers to keep generous government pension systems financially solvent. But that argument, according to the peers, didn't "hold up to scrutiny" because the immigrants will grow older and claim pensions of their own one day.
The committee has among its ranks Labour and Liberal Democrat members with impeccable economic and business credentials. Many of them were the most trenchant in their remarks.

Downing Street's claim that migrants fill job vacancies in the economy was ruthlessly exposed.

The peers said that despite the influx of more than 700,000 workers from eastern Europe since May 2004, the number of vacancies has remained at between 600,000 and 700,000.

Allowing more and more migrants into the country created the need for ever more jobs because the new arrivals consume as well as provide services, the study found.

It called on the Government to set an "explicit target range" for immigration and set the rules to keep within that limit - effectively a cap.

A cap has been fought by the Labour Party Ministers who say it will harm the economy.

Sounds like the Ministers have either been reading the Wall Street Journal or the Democrat Party platform.
But committee member Lord Layard, a Labour peer and globally-respected economist, said the population would increase by around 190,000 a year for the next 50 years without a limit.

He warned: "We will have permanent pressure of people to move in our direction. Britain has an extra resource, which is the English language, for attracting people here.

"There is no doubt whatever that the pressure will remain for half a century or more.

"We are suggesting that the Government should set a target range for net immigration and then the rules should depend on the target range, rather than the numbers following from the rules as at pre-sent."

It's about time that a debate was started over the mindless shredding of borders. Instead of sensibly asking about the skills and background of immigrants, the "debate" has many times boiled down to a name-calling contest.

The discussion among the British political elites is the same one common British workingmen have been having for some time.

Better late than never.

Mastercard Wedding

You got to love this guy...
This is a true story about a recent
wedding that took place at Clemson University .
It was in the local newspaper and even
Jay Leno mentioned it.
It was a huge wedding with about 300 guests.

After the wedding, at the reception, the groom got up on stage
with a microphone to talk to the crowd.
He said he wanted to thank
everyone for coming, many from
long distances, to support them
at their wedding.

He especially wanted to thank the bride's and his family
and to thank his new father-in-law for providing such a lavish reception.

As a token of his deep appreciation
he said he wanted to give everyone
a special gift just from him.

So taped to the bottom of
everyone's chair, including the wedding party was an envelope.

He said this was his gift to
everyone, and asked them to
open their envelope.

Inside each manila envelope was an 8x10 glossy
of his bride having sex with the best man.

The groom had gotten suspicious
of them weeks earlier and had
hired a private detective to tail

After just standing there, just watching the guests' reactions
for a couple of minutes, he
turned to the best man and
said, 'F---you!' Then he turned
to his bride and said, 'F--- you!'

Then he turned to the
dumbfounded crowd and said,
'I'm outta here.'

He had the marriage annulled
first thing in the morning.

While most people would have canceled the wedding
immediately after finding out
about the affair, this
guy goes through with the
charade, as if nothing were wrong.

His revenge--making the bride's parents pay over $32,000 for a
300-guest wedding and reception, and best of all, trashing the
bride's and best man's reputations
in front of 300 friends and family members.

This guy has balls the size of church bells.

Do you think we might get a MasterCard 'priceless'
commercial out of this?

Elegant wedding reception
for 300 family members and
friends: $32,000.

Wedding photographs commemorating the Occasion: $3,000

Deluxe two-week
honeymoon accommodations in Maui : $8,500.

The look on everyone's face
when they see the 8x10 glossy
of the bride humping the best man: Priceless.

There are some things money
can't buy, for everything else

Spanish Physician Pioneer in Head Transplants

Dr. Luis De la Cruz, Pioneer in Head Transplantation

While medical researchers still struggle with devising successful brain transplants, Spanish physician, Dr. Luis De la Cruz, is on the cutting edge of head transplants.

De la Cruz has invented a procedure which can add up to 2 inches to a person's height. De la Cruz claims he has successfully completed head transplants on 17 patients.

The procedures are performed in the doctor's clinic in Madrid, Spain. The Clinica La Luz is the only clinic in the world where patients can undergo the 90-minute operation where a small incision is made on the side of the head allowing a silicon implant to be placed between the skull and the scalp. The average implant measures 1 inch while the maximum allowed is 2 inches with the need for 2 operations. The first procedure is needed to stretch the scalp.

March 23rd-29th 2008

I'm Trench Reynolds.

I blog about crime.

This is the DBKP Week in Crime for March 23-28th ,2008.

At craigscrimelist this week there was stories about houses being ransacked and babies for sale but my best post this week was about a clueless state Attorney General who has no idea how the internet works.

Over at I posted a story about an 11-year-old who was Tasered. She had it coming.

At News of Doom there wasn't really a story of the week so I bring to you a story and a rant about safe haven laws.

ALSO at Trench Reynolds: DBKP This Week in Crime

The top scorers remain unchanged from last week.

At MyCrimeSpace the catch of the week was the MySpace of one of the Virginia snipers.

At Psycho for Love we had not one but two stories about women who put their babies in danger to help their criminal boyfriends.

I started yet another new project this week in the vein of craigscrimelist and MyCrimeSpace. This time it's about stupid criminals who tend to post their acts on YouTube. My new project is called CrimeTube. The content is light right now but go on over and take a look.

And lastly at TheTrenchcoat Chronicles I go a little off topic and give my thoughts on the recent court ruling about cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal.

That's it for this week. Until next time I'm Trench Reynolds.

Obama: Did He Throw His White Grandmother Under the Bus?

When Barack Obama compared his white grandmother to his minister did he throw his grandmother under the bus?

"I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother — a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed her by on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe. Barack Obama on his minister, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright

An article in the Honolulu Advertiser told a different tale of Barack Obama's grandmother, not as the closet racist as he described her, but as a woman who worked hard, rose in her profession and helped raise Obama, but treated people with the utmost respect.

Several current and former associates of Obama's grandmother said they were "stunned" by Obama's remarks about his grandmother.
I was real surprised that he indicated that," said Dennis Ching, who was a 23-year-old management trainee under Dunham beginning in 1966. "I never heard her say anything like that. I never heard her say anything negative about anything. And she never swore."
Obama's grandmother worked hard in her profession eventually becoming the Bank of Hawaii's first woman Vice-President in 1970.

Pregnant "Man" Due in July After Wife Unable to Conceive

When Thomas Beatie's wife Nancy was unable to conceive, the Bend, Oregon resident stepped up to the biological plate and the now five months pregnant man is due in July with the couple's first child.

"Wanting to have a biological child is neither a male nor female desire, but a human desire," he wrote. "To Nancy, I am her husband carrying our child. I will be my daughter's father, and Nancy will be her mother. We will be a family."

Beatie, a female-to-male transexual, decided to keep his/her female reproductive organs even though he was now considered legally male after his female-to-male gender switch ten years ago. He and his wife Nancy moved to the town of Bend, Oregon two years ago where he operated a screen printing business.

Neighbors were shocked and skeptical to discover he was not only a male transsexual but a pregnant male transsexual when reporters descended upon the town after Beatie announced his pregnancy last week in the publication The Advocate.

America Sitting on Vast Oil Reserves: Energy Non-Crisis

There is enough oil in the North Slope of Alaska to provide
America's energy needs for the next 200 years.

left-North Dakota oil fields are booming, according to one report.

America's untapped oil reserves are vast and waiting.

There is enough oil in the North Slope of Alaska to provide for America's energy needs for the next 200 years.

Before making Americans jump through the tiresome hoops of more government regulation in the pursuit of energy conservation, controls should be lifted that keep American companies from exploiting oil reserves which sit below the surface of the USA.
America is sitting on top of a super massive 200 billion barrel Oil Field that could potentially make America Energy Independent and until now has largely gone unnoticed. Thanks to new technology the Bakken Formation in North Dakota could boost America’s Oil reserves by an incredible 10 times, giving western economies the trump card against OPEC’s short squeeze on oil supply and making Iranian and Venezuelan threats of disrupted supply irrelevant.

These deposits are stark proof that the U.S. is not running out of oil; the sky is not falling.
In the next 30 days the USGS (U.S. Geological Survey) will release a new report giving an accurate resource assessment of the Bakken Oil Formation that covers North Dakota and portions of South Dakota and Montana. With new horizontal drilling technology it is believed that from 175 to 500 billion barrels of recoverable oil are held in this 200,000 square mile reserve that was initially discovered in 1951. The USGS did an initial study back in 1999 that estimated 400 billion recoverable barrels were present but with prices bottoming out at $10 a barrel back then the report was dismissed because of the higher cost of horizontal drilling techniques that would be needed, estimated at $20-$40 a barrel.

It was not until 2007, when EOG Resources of Texas started a frenzy when they drilled a single well in Parshal N.D. that is expected to yield 700,000 barrels of oil that real excitement and money started to flow in North Dakota. Marathon Oil is investing $1.5 billion and drilling 300 new wells in what is expected to be one of the greatest booms in Oil discovery since Oil was discovered in Saudi Arabia in 1938.

The US imported about 14 million barrels of Oil per day in 2007 , which means US consumers sent about $340 Billion Dollars over seas building palaces in Dubai and propping up unfriendly regimes around the World, if 200 billion barrels of oil at $90 a barrel are recovered in the high plains the added wealth to the US economy would be $18 Trillion Dollars which would go a long way in stabilizing the US trade deficit and could cut the cost of oil in half in the long run.

And that's not all...

Lindsey Williams, who has been an ordained Baptist minister for 28 years, went to Alaska in 1971 as a missionary. The Transalaska oil pipeline began its construction phase in 1974, and because of Mr. Williams' love for his country and concern for the spiritual welfare of the "pipeliners," he volunteered to serve as Chaplain on the pipeline, with the subsequent full support of the Alyeska Pipeline Company. Because of the executive status accorded to him as Chaplain, he was given access to information documented in his eye opening book, The Energy Non-Crisis.

After numerous public speaking engagements in the western states, certain government officials and concerned individuals urged Mr. Williams to put into print what he saw and heard, stating that they felt this information was vital to national security. Mr. Williams firmly believes that whoever controls energy controls the economy.

Thus, The Energy Non-Crisis.

Yemen Playboy Says He's Innocent in Norwegian Beauty's Death

Yemen Playboy Farooq Abdulhak (Center)

Yemen playboy, Farooq Abdulhak - son of one of Yemen's richest businessmen, insists he's innocent in the murder of Norwegian beauty, Martine Magnussen.

Farooq, safely ensconced in Yemen and out of the reach of the British authorities says he skipped out in his billionaire father's private jet the day before the body of 21-year-old Martine Magnussen was found beneath some rubble in the same block of flats where Farooq had a rental.

Farooq, a business student known as "DP" or Dom Perignon to his friends, confirmed that he did leave the upscale London club Maddox Thursday night at 3 a.m. with Martine and took her to his flat but that she later left and, according to a friend of Farooq's, a mysterious 3rd person is involved.
"They left the nightclub and went back to his home.

"But she left after that. He found out she was missing the next day.

"He panicked and called his father to get him out. Farooq says a third person was involved. His father has hired investigators to find out more."

Farooq's attorney, Mohammed Al-Bakwli, told the Mail that he and his client were frustrated that the British authorities hadn't contacted his client.

"I wish they would contact us. It would be in the best interests of my client. Farooq is not hiding and he is not a fugitive."

For Sahara the Artic Seal, Freedom Means Right to be Wrong

Sometimes, a story takes curious turns in the telling.

"I've got a right to be wrong"
--English singer-songwriter Joss Stone

Freedom means free to be wrong.

So turns the story of Sahara the Arctic Seal.

The seal has twice been rescued in warmer waters far from home. Once in 2006 off the coast of North Africa: hence, his name.

After being nursed back to health in Britain (no word if his health care was provided by the government), Sahara was set free, only to paddle in the completely wrong direction a second time.

Animal rights activists then battled to give Sahara one more chance to avoid a life in captivity.

Five month ago:
"We're disappointed that he headed south and not back up north," said Tamara Cooper, an animal care supervisor at the National Seal Sanctuary in southern England. "But we're relieved that he's safe and well."

Sahara's fate remains unknown, but his story gives the opportunity to mention that being free means having the right to be wrong: the freedom to fail.

It also gives another opportunity: the opportunity to present a ridiculous 30-second Japanese video. It may or may not pertain to this subject. Readers can decide for themselves.

Questions of directional ability and liberty surround Sahara; no such questions surround the above video.

It is clearly wrong.

Just wrong.

Pig Sitter Allows Portly Porker to Pig Out

Is there no justice?

The wheels of justice grind slowly, but somewhere in Minnesota, a pig sitter still is free.

Back in November 2007, a a pet pig, whose weight had tripled under the care of pig sitter, Mary Beesecker, was placed on a diet and Beesecker charged with an animal cruelty violation.

Try as we could, and with the resources of the Internet at our fingertips, no news of whether Besecker ever faced Minnesota justice in this tale of porky porker woe.
The 5-year-old animal, Alaina Templeton, part potbellied pig, has lost 10 percent of her 150 pounds and is recovering well from surgery to remove a collar that had become embedded in her overly fat neck, owner Michelle Schmitz said.

The sitter was apparently neglecting Alaina and let the pig roam outdoors, free to chomp on cat food and chicken feed at the co-worker's farm.
Alaina had made headlines the week before the animal cruelty charges, after Schmitz complained that the pet sitter had allowed Alaina to go from her normal 50 pounds to 150 pounds in just nine months. Schmitz had left Alaina with the sitter, a co-worker, while she was on medical leave to recover from ankle surgery.

A clean pig is a happy pig

All's well that ends well for the portly pig, however. It was reported that the "pet is back home, the excess pounds will "melt off" with a healthy diet and exercise."

Was this case ever resolved?

Efforts to find out if Alaina was avenged proved fruitless.

Has Mary Beesecker ever faced the might of the Minnesota court system?

Is this what passes for justice in the Land of 10,000 Lakes?

Has Alaina, the obese porker, ever received justice for being allowed to eat like a pig?

Th-th-th-that's all, folks!

"For me, the tag line is more important than an article," says Fark founder Drew Curtis. "If the tag line is funny, it trumps everything else."

Just scanning those skewed headlines--prepared by Curtis and his crack team of smart-ass administrators--has the power to turn any reader into a conversational giant in most offices.

Okay, at least in our office.

A few headlines from the past week included:

* "And the Daily Dumbass Award goes to: The drug-trafficking brothers who flagged down a police car by mistake, and are now on the run. On horseback. In Fiji"
--tagged "Dumbass" on YahooNews story

* "The intellectual path to atheism in a nutshell: "I rejected Christianity largely because it would not have allowed me to continue getting drunk and high every night while splitting time between four girlfriends."
--tagged "Obvious" on a story from

* "Convicted child molester claims he was molested by Bigfoot as a kid"
--tagged "Unlikely"

* "Britney Spears linked to rise of foreclosures. LEAVE BRITNEY A LOAN"
--tagged as "Amusing" on LA Times story

Fark present

We've always had questions about FARK. Recently, DBKP's Mondoreb and LBG had a chance to sit down (in the blogosphere sense of the word) with Drew, who provided some answers.

And Curtis was candid.

MONDOREB: Welcome to DBKP, Drew. We've been looking forward to this chat, so let's do it.

DREW CURTIS: Cool. Sounds like fun.

MONDO: You would think everyone's heard of FARK, but they haven't. How would you descibe FARK to someone who is totally unaware of the website and how it operates?

DC: What if the Daily Show ran the Drudge Report?

We're a news aggregator selecting for humor. If that doesn't help anyone who is totally unaware of Fark, they need to get off the Internet.

MONDO: How many links does FARK get in an average day? Does it drive the administrators crazy? Does all the strange news links give them a skewed, jaded view of the world?

DC: 2500 [links per day], and the reason it's that low is because we reject duplicates. It doesn't drive us crazy per se. I don't have much of a jaded view either, I figure it's not that the world is getting stupider, it's that media coverage (of how stupid we already are) is better.

The thing that does drive me nuts though is when I pull up or another "real" news site and see nothing but Fark articles. I feel the same way when I go to TGIFridays and try to find healthy food on the menu--there isn't any.

LITTLE BABY GINN: What's up with the super-masculine squirrel on the 404 page? Where'd he come from? It's rumored that he was the only thing on FARK for a couple years. Is he like a member of the family?

DC: It was completely random.

The day I reserved the domain name in 1997, a friend of mine sent me that pic. I've since talked to the actual photographer, it's a real picture.

Fark mainstay

MONDO: Of all the entirely-strange and unusual stories on FARK over the years, what's the strangest one you remember?

Gary Zerola: Acquitted in 2nd Rape Charge Trial

Gary Zerola, Professional Victim

Boston attorney Gary Zerola was acquitted today in his 2nd rape charge trial in a Boston courtroom of multiple charges of rape and supplying alcohol to a minor, the second such trial this year with almost the exact same charges and counter charges, that it was the 30-something Zerola who was the victim and not his accusers, two underage girls in two separate cases.

In yesterday's acquittal Zerola was accused of raping and sodomizing a 19-year-old girl in his Beacon Hill condo back in 2004. It took a Suffolk County jury two hours to return with the not-guilty verdicts.

While Zerola was acquitted the jury never learned that Zerola had just wrapped up a similar trial with the same outcome back in January, charges of attacking and attempting to rape yet another 19-year-old girl. Zerola was acquitted of those charges. The jury never heard that Zerola, while out on bond in October of 2007, was arrested and charged with attempted rape of another young girl, this time an 18-year-old in a Miami Beach hotel.

Obama, Democrats, Jeremiah Wright: Typical Race Hustling

"Typical Race Hustling" is the topic of the day and Red Planet Cartoons now has the floor.

“Obama is giving us a ‘national conversation on race,’ but mostly by letting a lot of white people realize just what circulates, unremarked, in the black community.”
–Prof. Reynolds at Instapundit

RPC then goes into an examination of what passes for theology in Barack Obama's Trinity Church.
Jesus is black. Merging Marxism with Christian Gospel may show the way to a better tomorrow. The white church in America is the Antichrist because it supported slavery and segregation.

The post then winds up with its typical collection of informative links to topical reference items.

[This article also posted "Jeremiah Wright, Democrats: Typical Race Hustling" at

Readers who are news-savvy rarely depend on the MSM for their news analysis: they know that to read MSM is to have to read between the lines--and sometimes, that's just too tiresome.

That's where a good dose of RPC will do a body good.

Typical Race Hustling is typical Red Planet Cartoons: chock full of info and in an easy-to-digest form.

Hustle over and get some.

Touching Story of Meredith and Abbey

The author of this is unknown to me but what a neat story.

Thank God there are still people in this world that would take the time to do something like this.

This is one of the kindest things I've ever experienced. I have no way to know who sent it, but there is a beautiful soul working in the dead letter office of the US postal service.

[Also at Kindness of a Stranger: Touching Story of Meredith and Abbey.

Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so she dictated these words:

Dear God,

Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick.

I hope you will play with her. She likes to play with balls and to swim. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her. You will know that she is my dog. I really miss her.

Love, Meredith.

We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it. Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office. A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had.

Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, "To Meredith , " in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, "When a Pet Dies." Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey & Meredith and this note:

Dear Meredith,

Abbey arrived safely in heaven.

Having the picture was a big help. I recognized Abbey right away.

Abbey isn't sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets to keep your picture in, so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by.

Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you.

I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much.

By the way, I'm easy to find, I am wherever there is love.
