Trench Reynolds

I'm Trench Reynolds.

I blog about crime.

This is DBKP's This Week in Crime for September 21-September 27th, 2008.

Yes, I took the week off last week. That's a good thing. When I take the week off that means there wasn't anything earth-shattering to report in my world of crime. This week, unfortunately, is not the case.

As I'm sure most of you know there was a school shooting last week in Finland in which ten people were killed. It's the second school shooting Finland has had in the past year. Most blogs posted the initial crime and posted very little follow up about it. As for me I just can't let go of stories like this.

22-year-old gunman Matti Saari stormed the Kauhajoki School of Hospitality armed with a gun and incendiary devices. Saari attended the school and attacked the room where his classmates were taking a cooking exam. Sarri was supposed to have taken that exam the same day as he was studying to be a chef. Witnesses said that Saari looked like he was having 'fun' while opening fire on the unsuspecting crowd. Saari also actually phoned a friend of his to tell him that he's killed people and called to say goodbye. Saari used his incendiary devices to set fire to the classroom and to the bodies of those he shot. The victims had to be taken to Helsinki to be identified.

Saari did fire on police who did not fire back. They didn't have to. Like most school shooters Saari turned the gun on himself. He initially survived but died later at the hospital.

When the smoke cleared a chilling portrait of the shooter had been cast and as usual in these situations the red flags were many. Now I'm going to offer my sobering dose of reality that go along with many myths of school shooters.

In a note left by Saari he said that he was planning a school shooting for six years. That would mean that he was 16 and in high school when he started plotting. According to some of his high school friends he was bullied and an outcast in high school. A lot of these shooters are nothing more than copycats of the Columbine shooting. A lot of them think that the Columbine shooters, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold were bullied. In my opinion they were not. In this day of instant information I have yet to see any proof that they were actually bullied. This Slate article by journalist Dave Cullen lends credence to that theory. Not to mention that is no excuse to kill 10 people that had nothing to do with his alleged bullying.

Saari was bullied while he was in the Finnish Army as well. This should come as no shock considering he was discharged from the army for firing off his weapon when he was not ordered to. That terrified the other recruits.

Saari was also a 'fan' of school shooters including the Columbine killers and Cho Seung Hui, the gunman at Virginia Tech but more on that later. When these bullying claims come out it makes me wonder if the bullying started before they became school shooting fans or after.

Also as someone who was bullied every day for 12 years I know how painful bullying can be but I never thought of taking up arms. For those of you in high school who think that it's all hopeless just bide your time. Once you reach my age you'll realize how insignificant high school was in the grand timeline of your life. Once you graduate more than likely your bullies will either end up in jail or in some dead end life.

The first thing most people did was make the comparison in similarities that happened at the Jokela School 10 moths prior. To say the similarities were eerie is a gross understatement.

Prior to the Jokela shooting gunman Pekka-Eric Auvinen posted videos on YouTube that were in a threatening manner against Jokela High School. Saari posted threatening videos as well except his did not indicate a specific target. Both were fans of other school shootings. Both had bought their guns at the same gun shop in Jokela. As it turned out these were not mere coincidences.

Saari and Auvinen were online buddies both brought together for their admiration of school shooters. Over at TheTrenchcoat Chronicles I refer to these types of people as 'mutants'. Not the X-Men kid of mutants but more like CHUDs. They played online games together. They exchanged YouTube videos of previous school shootings. They boasted about their plans to each other. To extend the six degrees of separation of school shooters even further, before his shooting spree and suicide Auvinen also had contact with Pennsylvania student Dillon Cossey. Cossy was arrested last year for plotting an attack against Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School outside of Philadelphia. While this school shooting 'network' if you will may come as a shock to some it does not come as a shock to me.

These school shooting groupies congregate online in places like LiveJournal, MySpace, and various message boards. If you go back to every shooting that has happened since Columbine I can almost guarantee that most of them, either shooters or would be shooters, were fans of Columbine. It's not just kids and teens either. The really scary part is that there are adults who were even adults when Columbine happened that are fans of the mass murderers.

So when people ask where will the next school shooter come from my answer will always be the same. They come from the darkest corners of the internet.

Trans-Gender Concerns Behind Spread of Unisex Restrooms

Politically Correct Toiletry
Coming Soon to a Public Restroom Near You

The obsession with forcing the public into unisex multiple party public toilets is upon us again. Every few months another public body or school administrator suddenly finds toilets discriminatory because males and females are ah........different. And this difference really pisses them off. The latest is in Britain. Where the issue does not appear to be the apparatus, but rather the signage, when the worldwide toilet door depictions of a stick figure in a skirt signifying 'female' toilet was suddenly determined to be sexist.(duh).

Toilet signs 'too PC'

The traditional sign on the door of the Gents has been temporarily replaced with one that says 'toilets with urinals'.And the sign on the Ladies now simply says 'toilets' in a move to make the lavatories more inclusive for trans-gender students.

Jennie Killip, women's officer at the students' union, put forward the idea of installing the new signs after receiving complaints from trans-gender students about the facilities. She said: "The idea is that trans-gender people feel more comfortable using their student union."

Trans-gender people can face violence and abuse when they go into toilets and we wanted to provide a place where they can feel comfortable."I have had complaints from people who said we didn't have any facilities for them."

Frankly, it is unclear to DBKP why there will be any less violence directed at males knocking on a stall door in the "toilet without urinals". Or in the words of an actual lab rat in the social experiment: "Another student, who did not want to be named, said: "This is ridiculous..."

Norway has tackled this burning issue with a different approach.

Equality Watch: Boys Must Sit Like Girls To Pee In Norway School, Or Else!

It’s an entirely new definition of “Standing Room Only.” Or perhaps a new measure of “equality” has arrived.

Whatever it is, it has sparked a huge political debate at a school in Kristiansand, Norway, according to the Norwegian paper Fædrelandsvennen.

The trigger for the explosion of opinion? A decision in the local district that schoolboys must sit on toilet seats when urinating, not stand.

When word leaked out, parents were none too happy. The complete feminizing of Western males appeared to be the goal.

But why let all those urinals go to waste? If males are not allowed to use them, who will?

Ah, the women had some ideas there too.

The Europeans are decidedly constipated compared to their politically correct American counterparts. As the Boston Globe reports:

Emerson makes restrooms gender-neutral
Joins other schools after student pleas

Emerson has changed the signs that used to be aimed at a specific gender on 21 restrooms in campus buildings and one of the college's two dormitories.Emerson's changes, made in preparation for the upcoming school year, mirror moves by Tufts University and the University of Vermont, part of a small but growing number of universities modifying policies and facilities on behalf of transgender students. Several colleges have amended nondiscrimination policies to include gender identity, but student groups recently began pursuing more concrete changes, including gender-neutral housing, locker rooms, and bathrooms.

"This will bring more equal opportunities to the students of Emerson," said Jessica Ganon, a junior at Emerson who campaigned with fellow students to get the school to provide the gender-neutral bathrooms. "I am much happier that this makes life easier for others. I felt sorry for those who felt unsure of where to go."

That is strange. We here at DBKP never gave it a second thought. The idea that 98% of the population should feel uncomfortable because of the concerns of a few challenged individuals never even crossed our minds.

"A harassment experience doesn't have to be physical," said Rik Haber, a 2007 graduate of Emerson identified as gender-queer, a term for those who identity their gender outside of male or female. "It is about feeling comfortable going to the bathroom."

I don't know what reception Riki ( if that really is his name) expected to get when he tried to tinkle in the girls room, but I bet it was unpleasant.

Both for him and the girls. And that puts the lie to this social tink[l]ering. Gays should be wanting to hang near the urinals. Lesbians like being with the girls. Guys fully expect the gays to use the Men's Room, Girls have similar expectations about lesbians. It is only the cross dressers that are at issue, a minority in society so small as to be socially infinitesimal. These are individuals that purposely put themselves on display and their fragile egos are hardly worthy of discomfitting the rest of society.

Speaking of which:

Pass the towels! Plans for coed locker rooms

The governing council in Montgomery County, Md., is considering adopting an "open doors" policy to its public restrooms, locker rooms and other facilities to meet the demands of a transgender "non-discrimination" plan, which would allow men into women's lockers and vice versa, a support group reports.

"In addition to prohibiting discrimination in the areas of employment and housing, Bill 23-07 adds 'public accommodation' to the list, causing many to question the judgment of allowing men who merely claim they feel female to have complete access to women's restrooms, showers and locker rooms in schools, and other places of public accommodation such as health clubs, swimming pools, and store dressing rooms," PFOX said in its statement about the issue.

The Montgomery County Council has voiced callousness and arrogance to the concerns of parents who object. When asked by a mother concerned about her 10-year-old daughter who swims at the Germantown Indoor Pool, where she must undress in front of women since there are no separate changing rooms, if under this law she could be changing next to a person with male genitals,

Council member George Leventhal responded via email: 'I cannot absolutely put to rest your concern that girls might find themselves in a locker room or dressing room in the presence of a person who expresses or asserts herself as a woman but who still has male genitals, but based on my own sense of the prevalence of that condition in the population, I think the likelihood of that occurring is remote'.

Well that makes everyone feel better. What could go wrong? After all, those seeking entry are the sexual oddities of society. But not to worry, I am sure many heterosexual students know exactly whose locker they want to be next to.

And we here at DBKP have noted another oddity: everyone of these proposals affects youth. Sort of like creepy adults vicariously reliving their younger years in a more explicit fashion.

In order to lend a more scientific approach to our topic, DBKP interviewed our resident expert on such matters, the pulchritudinous LBG. Her answer was concise.

"I think UNISEX bathrooms are a bad idea. I imagine if you poll others you'll get the same answer.
Women do not want men in their bathroom, public or private. There are too many weirdos. It also allows pedophiles access to little kids.
So it's a matter of "safety" for me, for women, and for kids."

Yup.

Sort of like males not wanting to have to use the urinal while a lesbian combs her hair at the sink with an Ace #5, making small talk about her date the night before.

Sheila Jacson Lee Praises Obama, Votes No on Bailout

Sheila Jackson Lee:
Obama delivered votes for bailout--except hers, of course...

Here's the transcript of the operable portion of the video:

McCain's coming in and talking about he had the votes and only delivered 65 Republicans. Compared to Obama's steady hand and actually 140 Democrats voted.
First of all, irony alert, Sheila Jackson Lee voted AGAINST the bailout. So here she is bragging about Obama's ability to deliver votes. Meanwhile, he failed to deliver her vote.

Second, Obama did not lift a finger to deliver votes...he didn't even travel back to Washington. This from the New York Times:
Aides to Mr. Obama said he had not directly reached out to try to sway any House Democrats who opposed the measure.
Even if Obama had delivered the votes, she's claiming that the bill failed to address the needs of the American People. What she's really telling us, is that Obama delivered vote's for a sh*tty bill. So much for the steady hand. They must think we're really stupid. [read more]

Mainstream Media Practicing Voter Suppression

Mainstream Media's Favorite Voter Suppression Methods
* Lie, Damn Lies and MSM Polls
* Projecting the Media Favorite as the Winner
* Exit Polls and Fraud
* Pro-Obama, Anti-McCain-Palin Bias
* Hit Pieces Masquerading as "News"

The Mainstream Media is conducting a none-too-sophisticated campaign of conservative voter suppression. It's Big Media's largest partisan campaign effort--ever.

Voter suppression is a form of electoral fraud and refers to the use of governmental power, political campaign strategy, and private resources aimed at suppressing (i.e. reducing) the total vote of opposition candidacies instead of attempting to change likely voting behavior by changing the opinions of potential voters. This method is particularly effective if a significant amount of voters are intimidated individually because the voter might not consider his or her single vote important.

Is the blatant pro-Obama, anti-McCain-Palin Mainstream Media bias an attempt at voter suppression?

Some conservatives and independents--after listening to CNN, the AP and other MSM reports--may not vote in November. Perhaps, deciding that it will do no good--as they've been told repeatedly that the election has already been decided in Barack Obama's favor.

Previously, the MSM usually reserved voter suppression efforts to Election Day: calling Florida for Al Gore, broadcasting that the polls in Florida were closed in 2000 and the Kerry exit poll hoax in 2004. Before election day, the MSM contented themselves with publishing wildly-skewed polls, which strangely, always favored the Democrats by wide margins. [See below.]

POLLS SEEMS to SKEW WRONG--ONE WAY

MSM polls from 1976-2004 [with the exceptions of 1984 and 1996] always work out wrong. And they prove to be consistently wrong in the same way: they predict victory for the candidate with the "D" after his name.

One of the most egregious example of MSM voter suppression tactics is the exit polls. This fraud reached its most distorted heights in 2004, when voters in the afternoon learned, via the major networks, that John Kerry was not only winning--he was winning in a landslide.

John Wambough wrote in January 2005 about the exit poll scam.

Shortly after 1pm on Election Day the National Networks' raw exit-poll data was posted on the Internet showing Kerry winning the National Election in a landslide. From the standpoint of the American voter, this data was projecting / forecasting / indicating the winner of the National Election and it was doing so before a single poll had closed in any state. Stringent Network standards for projecting or calling a state over the national airways mean little when the Internet is used as an alternative avenue for subverting the electoral process.

...

National Network disinformation tactics (telling the public the polls were closed when they weren't and telling the public that Al Gore had won the election when he didn't) proved highly effective in curtailing Florida voting in Election 2000. Many citizens of the Florida Panhandle know voters who chose not to vote once the networks (CBS in particular) announced that all Florida polls were closed and that Al Gore had won Florida and therefore the National Election. According to the Clerk for Elections, Okaloosa County, Florida: "In past elections, there was usually a rush of people coming from work, trying to get to vote before the polls closed" Soon after 6 p.m. in the Central Time Zone, voting volume dropped almost to zero in 361 polling places in the Panhandle.
--Election 2004: exit-poll disinformation hoax backfires?

When the obituary of the Mainstream Media is written, 2008 will go down as a year when all pretenses of objectivity were dropped. Not content to rely on the usual tactics of anti-conservative (Republican) stories, skewed polls and election day shenanigans, MSM editors are leaving nothing to chance, in what might be, their last hurrah.

The onslaught of pro-Obama, anti-McCain-Palin propaganda pieces, parading as "news" stories, far surpasses anything the MSM has attempted in years past.

A READER AT A MAJOR NEWSROOM EMAILS:
"Off the record, every suspicion you have about MSM being in the tank for O is true. We have a team of 4 people going thru dumpsters in Alaska and 4 in arizona. Not a single one looking into Acorn, Ayers or Freddiemae. Editor refuses to publish anything that would jeopardize election for O, and betting you dollars to donuts same is true at NYT, others. People cheer when CNN or NBC run another Palin-mocking but raising any reasonable inquiry into obama is derided or flat out ignored. The fix is in, and its working." I asked permission to reprint without attribution and it was granted.

Is it any wonder that three times more Americans believe in UFOs than trust the Mainstream Media?

Jeff G. at Protein Wisdom, asks Can 50 million Americans file suit for fraud?: "Because that would be the kind of big news not even the mainstream press could make disappear."

The Anchoress lays out an eerily-Apocalypic scenario “The fix is in, and it’s working…”

I suppose this is why print media and the press in general don’t care about their tumbling revenues; when The Pelosi gets the regulated internet and restricted Congress that she wants, and Obama gets his thugs and his Justice Department monitoring, intimidating and shutting down alternative media (and the dissenting voices we’ve been told are “patriotic” when a Republican is in the White House) the incestuous mainstream press will go back to being the only game in town. Pravda West.

Anchoress reader Eric Schubert: "The Edwards debacle was proof enough of where the heart of the MSM lies, and lack of curiousity of the press about Edwards probably cost Hillary the nomination. And that shameful episode offers a warning to the MSM. What if Obama does have a skeleton in his closet (such as a shady deal or outright bribe) that is revealed after he wins the election? While the chance of this scenario is remote, imagine the backlash against the MSM if it could be shown that a reasonable investigation by the MSM would have easily revealed this secret to the public prior to the election?"

[
John Edwards and Sarah Palin did indeed get very different MSM coverage
.]

John Hinderaker at Powerline agrees that the fix is in, it is working--and you knew it all along.

Sadly, it's true: it is indeed working. We live in a political system that has not yet been adequately described, but one might call it a "mediated democracy." Mediated by a self-appointed, generally ignorant but highly opinionated "elite" that is not elite by any conventional measure--income, intelligence, education, social position--but that successfully dictates the terms of political discourse even though it no longer controls (exclusively, anyway) the means of production of the news.

The MSM is "In the Tank and not even Trying", according to Confederate Yankee.
If you recall, several weeks ago Charlie Gibson used a doctored quote when interviewing Sarah Palin.

Gene Johnson of the Associated Press was the person (I hesitate to use the term journalist at this point) who purposefully truncated the quote to make it mean something entirely different, and so I contacted his superior, and noted he had clearly violated APs code of ethics by doctoring the quote.

After a period of silence, I asked the AP "In what way is altering a subject's quote to change the entire context of the quote, and present an entirely false interpretation of what the subject clearly said, not at odds with the Associated Press' ethics policy?"

The AP's response?

"[T]he remark could be interpreted in different ways".

Of course, when it comes to the Blogosphere, the AP's position is that they have no ethics.

Details about Barack Obama, the questionable tactics traced back to his campaign and his many questionable associates get the "John Edwards treatment" in the Mainstream press. [See also "Barack Obama: The Strong-Arm Tactics of Team Obama", "Sarah Palin, Hillary Attacks: Fear and Loathing in the MSM" and "Sarah Palin: Far Left French Foppery, Vampires, and Elitist Palin Attacks".]

As shown with the John Edwards affair/scandal/coverup, the AP's ethics are highly-situational. The Edwards story demonstrated not only the MSM's blantant failure to report, but also a damning indictment to even investigate allegations concerning a Democrat presidential candidate.

Allegations which were true.

CNN, CBS, NBC, Time, Newsweek, the New York Times grudgingly ran articles of the Edwards' affair only after John Edwards himself gave them the go-ahead on August 8. They have since descended into their comforting media blackout, with only ABC News pursuing the Edwards' money trail.

Is the MSM voter suppression effort coordinated?

Only in the sense that like-minded people are inclined to act the same way at different times and places. Just because cars get stolen on the same day in Florida, Wisconsin and Maine doesn't mean the thieves in those different locales are operating as a criminal conspiracy.

It only indicates that people who steal cars are active in all three states at the same time.

Is the massive MSM bias another attempt at voter suppression?

Does the Pope wear a beanie?

Will any MSM outlet question the tilted coverage in favor of Barack Obama?

Will Big Media be successful? What new tactics will the MSM unveil on Election Day 2008?

As always, the election day results will be the judge.

But Big Media has moved from reporting the news into injecting themselves into the political process, into becoming the news itself.

In Election 2008, they have dropped all pretenses of a disinterested, objective press.

The Mainstream Media, like the Chicago machine, are not content with watching events on Election Day unfold.

They want to be the kingmakers.

NOTES:

* It's interesting that the "voter suppression" article at Wikipedia cites "caging lists" as a form of voter suppression.

Caging lists have been used by political parties to eliminate potential voters from the other party's voting roll. A political party sends registered mail to addresses of registered voters. If the mail is returned as undeliverable the party uses that fact to challenge the registration, arguing that because the voter could not be reached at the address, the registration is fraudulent.

Huh?

That sounds like a good way to prevent voter fraud--unless the Wiki writer is a project director for ACORN.

* MSM PALIN ATTACKS

Patterico not only fact-checks the LA Times on Sarah Palin--something that might exhaust the resources of a small army working around the clock--he also provides comic relief by working in a reference and video to convicted conman, Larry Sinclair.

Culture: Gender Wars and Adult Diaper Fashion Shows

After a wild ride on Wall street last week, the usual suspects emerged from late night negotiations to announce a bipartisan rescue plan for the financial crisis. The very people responsible for the financial meltdown, (see video) with smiles on their faces, announcing a solution? Color me cynical.

By the way, does anyone notice any Republicans in this photo opp announcing a 'bipartisan' solution? Also of note - this has to be the only time I've ever seen Harry Reid smile. I don't know about you, but that makes me very uneasy.

CULTURE:
The first of the 78 million baby boomers started receiving social security retirement benefits this year. Census bureau estimates that almost 8,000 boomers are turning 60 every day. Japan seems to be the only country paying attention: They hosted a fashion show for adult diapers.

Mexican flag flying at New Haven Town Hall

The good news is - the wave of immigrants entering the US slowed dramatically last year. The bad news is, it doesn't seem to matter. The mayor's office in New Haven decided it was time to fly a Mexican flag in front of town hall. And in El Paso, it seems nearly three quarters of the 727,070 residents speak only spanish at home.

Thirty-three preachers across the country say they will challenge the IRS this Sunday by endorsing specific political candidates from the pulpit and preach about their moral qualifications.

Abortions in the US fell 33% between 1974 and 2004 and adoption seems to be making a national comeback as the House approved the largest adoption incentives bill since 1997.

GENDER WARS:

Scientists have found that men who believe that a woman's place is in the home earn much more money than their less traditionally minded male colleague.

[At right: 13 year-old Matt Allsop's new look]

A new policy at the University of Pittsburg now allows a man who feels like he is a woman to be housed in the woman's dorm and vice-versa.

An eighth grade boy, Matt Allsop, is fighting for the right to wear make-up to school. "They're gender stereo-typing. He's being sexually discriminated against. Nowhere in the rules does it say that males can't wear make-up," supporters breathlessly intone. Using their logic, maybe murder is OK too, since the rules don't specifically state its a no-no. Ahh, government schools...

Gandalf, Lord of the Rings

Its no wonder the little darling is gender confused. Consider his role models. The openly gay star of Lord of the Rings, Sir Ian McKellen, is touring schools lecturing students on the evils of homophobia. And lets not forget Miller Beer, who once again, is a prime sponsor of the sexually explicit Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco, where any kid can see gay men engaged in overt public sex. Oh, and American Idol star, Clay Aiken, who graced the cover of People magazine this week, holding his infant son, as he declared to the world that he is gay. Hey, even I am starting to get confused.

Live Science has answered one of the most enduring questions of our time. Why do female spiders eat their mates after sex? The answer: a) they're hungry, b) because they can. It all comes down to size (as any man will tell you.) If males are small, they're easier to catch and more likely to be prey. Feminists knew this all along.

ESSENTIAL TRIVIA:

Just as records once gave way to compact discs as the main medium for music, it now appears that CDs may be on the way out. Record labels are now starting to sell music on memory cards.

The world is about to run out of internet addresses that allow computers to identify each other and communicate.

The first skyscraper to be built in Paris in 30 years is a pyramid like tower rising 180 meters above Paris.

Miners in the African kingdom of Lesotho have found one of the world's largest diamonds, a near flawless white gem weighing nearly 500 carats. Speaking of gems, the recent financial chaos is affecting Playboy's Hugh Hefner. The 83 year-old has been warned that unless he lets some bunnies go, he faces bankruptcy as soon as next month. Ouch!

IDIOT OF THE WEEK:

First place winner, hands down, is PETA, People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals. After hearing of a Swiss restaurant that started using human breast milk in their soups and sauces, PETA sent a letter to Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc., urging them to start using breast milk in their ice cream products. Yum.

Illegal Immigrantion Video: Illegal Immigration and the Bailout

Illegal Immigration and the Bailout
One More Story you Won't see at MSNBC, CNN, CBS, Time, Newsweek, et.al.

This week's Blogs4Borders' video report takes a look at the connection between illegal immigrants and the massive proposed $700 billion bailout--defeated yesterday in the House of Representatives.

Vigilance Dispatch: Everyone is talking about the massive bailouts. How has illegal immigration fed into the financial crisis that Washington plans to fix using our taxpayer dollars?

Michelle Malkin addressed this very issue last week in "Kill the bailout: Illegal immigration and the mortgage mess": it is "the bailout angle no one wants to talk about: Open borders and the home loan debacle."

You’ve heard a lot about Fannie/Freddie and the minority lending shakedowns, but you haven’t heard most commentators/analysts on either the left or the right talk about the massive illegal alien mortgage racket — a topic I’ve reported on for the past five years. That’s because fault lies at the feet of the crime-enabling banking industry and the ethnic lobbyists and the illegal alien-enabling Bush administration.

They screwed us. Now, they want us to fork over a trillion dollars.

Screw them.

Kill this bailout.

And I second Mark Krikorian: Credit is not a civil right. It’s not a civil right for illegal aliens. For foreign banks. For American banks. For anyone. The bailout proposal, as I noted earlier, now includes student loans and auto loan debt. Will our tax dollars next cover foreign student loan debts? Illegal alien in-state discounted college tuition debt? Where and when will it end?

It's all about buying votes.

Democrats, as the party of a wide collection of special interests, are accomplished masters at the tactic. President Bush, with his Prescription Drug Benefits; and Republicans senators and congressmen--with their EarmarkMania--horned in on the racket.

It was one of Bush's singular failures. Republicans lost their majorities in Congress, at least partially, because of it. The Republican Party is home to a sizable constituency that sees securing votes at the the public expense as wrong.

Little wonder you hear little of this among a Mainstream Media anxious to throw more taxpayers' logs on the financial fire.

Barack Obama Supports Ahmadinejad Talks with No Pre-conditions

Obama and Meeting Ahmadinejad
Debate: Not for a Meeting without Pre-Conditions
Obama's Website: For a Meeting without Pre-Conditions

Is Barack Obama for or against meeting Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, without pre-conditions?

Depends on when Obama's asked the question.

During the first presidential debate, Obama certainly sounded like it was preposterous for John McCain to even suggest that Obama would meet the man who's vowed to "wipe Israel off the map" without pre-conditions.

From Marc Ambinder: In July of 2007, Barack Obama was asked by a video questioner: "Would you be willing to meet separately, without precondition, during the first year of your administration, in Washington or anywhere else, with the leaders of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea?....."

"I would," he answered.

When Senator Hillary Clinton attacked Obama over that stance, Obama operative, David Axelrod started the backing and filling.

"What he meant was, as a government, he’d be willing and eager to initiate those kinds of talks, just as during the Cold War there were low-level discussions and mid-level discussions between us and the Soviet Union and so on. So he was not promising summits with all of those leaders."

A visit to barrackobama.com says the exact opposite, however.

"Obama supports tough, direct presidential diplomacy with Iran without preconditions."

From Yes, Obama supports direct presidential talks with Ahmadinejad:

In friday's debate, Obama continuously denied that he supported direct talks with president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad without preconditions. According to Obama's own website:
Diplomacy: Obama supports tough, direct presidential diplomacy with Iran without preconditions. Now is the time to pressure Iran directly to change their troubling behavior. Obama and Biden would offer the Iranian regime a choice. If Iran abandons its nuclear program and support for terrorism, we will offer incentives like membership in the World Trade Organization, economic investments, and a move toward normal diplomatic relations. If Iran continues its troubling behavior, we will step up our economic pressure and political isolation. Seeking this kind of comprehensive settlement with Iran is our best way to make progress.

It's no wonder that Obama runs from positions he took when he was trying to win the Democrat nomination--he had to appeal to the DailyKOS/Code Pink wing of the party. During the national election, he has to appeal to a much broader electorate.

But according to his own website, Obama would meet with Ahmadinejad without pre-conditions.

Ahmadinejad has repeatedly stated that he will "wipe Israel off the map" the moment Iran possesses the nuclear capability to do so. Some on the Left has said that Ahmadinejad did not really say that--that he was merely quoting the Ayatollah Khomeini. Google "myth of wiping Israel off the map" and over 57,000 results are returned.

At the same appearance in Tehran, Ahmadinejad also spoke of the "fairy tale of the Holocaust".

"Now in the West insulting the prophet is allowed, but questioning the Holocaust is considered a crime," he said, accusing Europaeans of not allowing "neutral scholars" to investigate "the truth about the fairy tale of Holocaust."

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad today echoed his earlier threats to "wipe Israel off the map" by telling a mass demonstration in Tehran, commemorating the 27th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, that Palestinians and "other nations" will remove Israel from the region...

Meanwhile, the crowd chanted, "Death to America," "Death of Israel," "Death to Denmark."

Ahmadinejad doesn't want to annihilate Israel; John McCain "mischaracterized" Obama's position.

Ahmadinejad did say he would "remove" Israel from the region--as many maps in the Arab world have already done.

It little wonder the Mainstream Media doesn't fact-check Barack Obama: first, he's their chosen candidate; second, pinning down a lawyer on exactly what he stands for or against is no easy task--even when you're trying.

Obama has said--more than once-- he would meet Ahmadinejad "without pre-conditions".
Regardless of what Obama said in the first presidential debate--on national TV, trying to appeal to a national audience--he's still insisting on his own website, that a no pre-conditions meeting is his position.

Sudden Muslim Grievance Syndrome Strikes Again in UK

U.K.: Working While Muslim
Sudden Muslim Grievance Syndrome Strikes Again

DBKP has reported before on sudden Muslim Grievance Syndrome(http://deathby1000papercuts.com/2008/06/multiculturalism-amok-many-employers-struggle-to-accomodate-muslim-workers/), the mental state that grips Muslims when after a short spell at real work they decide to turn on their employer and possibly win a free ride off the infidel for life. A new case has broken out, using that old Islamic chestnut, the alcohol gambit.

Muslim sues Tesco over alcohol

A Muslim said he is suing Tesco for religious discrimination because he was asked to handle crates of alcohol in a warehouse.

Mohammed Ahmed, 32, was employed at the supermarket giant's Lichfield depot in September last year for a job that included transporting various goods on fork-lift trucks.

The Saudi Arabia national told a tribunal he had not been told when he started the job that he would be handling alcoholic drinks - a task he said was against his Islamic beliefs.

The situation came to a head in the run-up to Christmas last year, when more alcohol was ferried to the warehouse in preparation for the festive season.

Mr Ahmed, who moved to Derby in 2006, complained to Tesco in February, but claims he was treated unfairly as a result. After eight months working for the company, he left in protest.

The decision on his legal action, after a three-day employment tribunal held in Birmingham, is expected next week.

So this idiot failed to notice that Tesco sold alcohol? Was it not rather obvious? And if was so damn important, might he not of asked at the interview?

But that is not the way Muslims in the U.K. go about it. The idea is to humiliate the infidels and make business so uncomfortable for the employer that Muslims are essentially calling the shots. It is the Jesse Jackson extortion racket, all about money and control.

As for Tescos response, it seems far more credible.
"Tesco claimed Mr Ahmed was made aware at his induction that he would be handling alcohol, and that every effort was made to find him an alternative role in the warehouse. But the claimant, of Upper Dale Road, Normanton, claims he was victimised by managers because of his stance."

But....

"A Tesco spokesman said: "Cases like this are very rare as managers are trained to be culturally sensitive and have an 'open door policy' to staff for issues like this as everyone is welcome to work at Tesco"

Actually, Mr Tesco, your firm has a large file on employees who suddenly went Muslim on you. And that is part of the problem: every time you give in, you lower yourself in the eyes of Muslims.

Britain is almost paradise for Muslims. In spite of being a mere 4% of the population, 40% of Muslims are on welfare, with apparently, no inclination or desire to get off. Muslims account for almost 50% of all welfare cases in Britain. Current welfare laws allow them to not only engage in polygamy, but to add the wives to the dole and perhaps get a larger public apartment, a privilege reserved to Muslims.

Unlike other philosophies and religions, Islam is almost unique in its lethargy and the unwillingness of its adherents to culuralize0--or to hold a job for that matter.

Except when it comes to getting on the gravy train in the first place.

Then a bit of unoriginal, but intense demonstration of anger is called for: The Sudden Muslim Grievance Syndrome.

Idiots of the Week

[Every week, RightBias publishes Culture Watch, which includes an Idiot of the Week award. However, there's been so many...

TOP IDIOTS OF THE WEEK: Sept. 27, 2008

1. Yum.

2. Unfortunately, this idiot terrorist is unable to savor his award. As he was mindlessly lobbing bombs and chanting Allah Akbar, he accidentally blew himself up. (Warning: graphic video) I wonder if he finally got those 72 virgins he was promised.

4. Also, in the eco-idiots category: Bette Midler, who cancelled her latest tour in order to save the planet. The aging 62 year-old diva felt the fleet of 14 trucks she used to ship her show from city to city caused too much pollution. I'm sure low ticket sales had nothing to do with her decision.

5. A Michigan Court of Appeals deserves a place on our list for ruling that a man who pleaded no contest to sodomizing a sheep doesn't have to register as a sex offender. Would someone please let PETA know.

6. The winner of last week's top idiot award is back. Democrat VP candidate Joe Biden stated on CBS Evening News, "When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on television and didn't just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened.'" Only problem is, FDR wasn't president during the 1929 crash, Herbert Hoover was. Oh, and there was no television in 1929. Duh.

7.
Former American Idol star Clay Aiken gets our Idiot Parent of the Week award. Clay was pictured in People Magazine holding his infant son as he announced to the world that he is gay. Clay threw in some advice on parenting, stating, "I cannot raise a child to lie or hide things." Another example of idiots transforming bad behaviour into moral-self righteousness. Bravo.

8. Kudos to the idiot who managed to rack up nearly $2 million in traffic fines before being caught by Brazilian police.

9. Last, but not least, is the idiot former judge who was disbarred by the Oklahoma Supreme Court last Tuesday. His crime? He actually got caught, and served prison time, for using a sexual device while presiding over trials. Hey, maybe some lawyers just complained about how hard it was to get a rise out of him. Ya think?

Thought for the week: To err is human, but being an idiot takes something special.

Bailout Oversight: House Dems Attacked Regulator in 2004

2004: Congressional Democrats Shoot the Messenger Warning of Problems at Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae
2008: Obama declares problems are result of "Deregulation" by Bush, McCain

"...I'm just pissed off at FHEO (Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight), because if it wasn't for you, I don't think we'd be here today."
--Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-NY) 2004 Congressional hearing
To Almando Falcon, FHEO director who presented the report of widespread accounting irregularities in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac

"I don't see anything in the report that raises safety and soundness problems."
--Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) 2004 on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac irregularities

C-SPAN video footage of a Congressional hearing you will not see in the Mainstream Media.

Democrats insist that the $700 billion bailout will have "oversight".

What happened four years ago when the Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight director issued a report raising the alarm about irregularities at Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae?

Democrats attacked the agency in charge of oversight. Will it be any different with the "New Improved Oversight"?

"...I'm just pissed off at FHEO (Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight), because if it wasn't for you, don't think we'd be here today."
Rep.

"I get the feeling that the markets are not worried about the safety and soundness of Fannie Mae..."
--Rep. Lacy Clay (D-MO) 2004 hearing

"Under the outstanding leadership of Frank Raines, everything in the 1992 Act has worked just fine."
--Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) 2004 hearing

"But the concern that I have is that you are making very specific--what you have correctly acknowledged--very broad and categorical judgments about the management of this institution, about he willfullness of practices that may or may not be in controversy. You've imputed various motives to the people running the organization. You went to the board and put a forty-eight hour ultimatum on them, without having any specific regulatory authority to put that ultimatum on them. It sounds like some kind of invisible line has been crossed."
--Rep. Artur Davis (D-AL) 2004 hearing
To Almando Falcon, FHEO presenting the report about problems with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Franklin Raines

Thanks to Naked Emperor News, this incredibly incriminating footage on C-Span from 2004 shows a Congressional hearing on oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, investigating illegal book keeping of the government backed banking companies.

You’ll notice Democrats like Barney Frank, Maxine Waters, Gregory Meeks and Artur Davis saying Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were doing just fine, didn’t need to be investigated and beating up on regulators trying to keep Fannie and Freddie honest.

Meanwhile, Republicans like Richard Baker, Ed Royce, Christopher Shays and Don Manzullo predict trouble ahead at Frannie and Freddie, call for more oversight and condemn the incredible profits of the CEOs of these government sponsored financial companies.
--2004 Footage Shows Democrats Defending Fannie/Freddie Illegal Book Keeping While Republicans Call for Oversight

One of the chief roadblocks to the $700 billion bailout is the House Republicans not buying into handouts to the very people that we were warned about four years ago.

The House Republicans are well aware how well "oversight" worked four years ago when the agency responsible exercised some oversight.

Meanwhile, the Mainstream Media cautions their remaining "news" customers not to make the financial bailout into a partisan issue.

Little wonder.
